Helen

Dark comedy Pilot

Based on my short film “Duty Bound,” Helen is a television series I would like to see developed one day.

Researcher, Assassin, Serial Killer: Helen Peters begins to have second thoughts about her covert employment when her best friend Bryson enters the crosshairs amidst his investigation of a Boston industrialist.

Helen is similar in tone to HBO’s Barry, but begs the question of what happens when a Killing Eve’s Villanelle-type starts to develop the conscience of a Barry Berkman-type.

A Case of Chains

Novel & Film Treatment

Currently undergoing revisions, A Case of Chains is a dramatic mystery with a touch of the supernatural.

A high school senior disappears and his body is found a week later just in time for the arrival of a mysterious friend of the family. As the senior’s friends grieve, a recently disgraced doctor tells them that the circumstances surrounding their friend’s death are not what they seem— despite their doubts about his claims, the friends begin an investigation of their own…

The story explores themes such as the value of time, the morality of mendacity, and the perception of identity. It’s a blend of several genres including mystery, coming-of-age, tragic drama, and a hint of science fiction.

Written during my junior year of high school, “Man of Gallifrey” is a work of music made for the screen that was intended to act as the intro for my Doctor Who spin-off series, “The Impossible Dream.”

To Be Determined: The Impossible Dream Story

Documentary

Under the pen & screen name of Joe Finnomen, during my first three years of high school I co-wrote, directed, and shot a ten episode Doctor Who spin-off series for YouTube. The production company I started in order to attempt this feat acquired donations from Syracuse University and a grant from the state of New York. We were also able to film in our high school’s auditorium.

In spite of the cash flow, our ambition, and the resources we were provided, our production hit major road blocks, and ultimately the series to this day has remained un-produced due to file corruption. Because of these issues, I took the remaining footage, interviewed my comrades, and edited it all together into a feature length documentary about teenagers trying to make short films in the hopes that other amateur filmmakers will learn from our mistakes.
